Dry Skin Getting You Frazzled?

Dry skin is a skin type in which various factors deplete skin of its natural lipid layer, which keeps the skin from drying out. Skin tends to get flaky, itchy and can be a menace if not taken care of properly. Creams and other skin-care products that are based on natural hypoallergenic ingredients are the best.

Here are some do’s and don’t’s which can help if your skin is prone to dryness:

DO’S:
  1. ·         Exfoliate on a Weekly or Semi-Weekly Basis - Moisturizer is much more effective on properly exfoliated skin. Use a salt or sugar scrub in the shower and exfoliate your face with a mild scrub made for the face.
  2. ·         Add oil to your bath. Add a tablespoon or so of almond, jojoba, olive, or hazelnut oil to your bath water after you’ve soaked for about 5 minutes. By soaking first, your skin gets plumped up by the water, then by adding the oil, it will seal in the absorbed moisture.
  3. ·         Use only gentle cleansers. Avoid cleansers such as deodorant soaps and harsh abrasives.
DON’T’S
  1. ·         Do not sunbathe too often.
  2. ·         Do not use astringent masks.
  3. ·         Do not use grained peelings too often.
  4. ·         Avoid hot water when washing face and during showers.
